Dhanush was the first celebrity to congratulate Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin after he picked his 500th Test wicket. India is playing against England and this is the second day of the five-day match in Rajkot. A day before the match began, Dhanush wrote that he was rooting for Ashwin to make everyone proud with his achievement.
For the unaware, Ravichandran Ashwin is the second Indian cricketer to achieve this milestone. The first Indian to surpass 500 Test wickets is Anil Kumble.
As soon as Ashwin picked his 500th Test wicket, Dhanush took to X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate him. He wrote, "Congratulations @ashwinravi99 on this incredible achievement. Thank you for making us proud #ashwin500 (sic)."
Before the third test with England began, Dhanush gave a shoutout to Ashwin. "Go for it @ashwinravi99, rooting for your 500 Om Namashivaaya (sic)."
Ravichandran Ashwin hails from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and is one of the most celebrated cricketers in India. Not just Dhanush, Ashwin has been receiving congratulations from fellow cricketers, friends and fans on all social media platforms.
On the work front, Dhanush was last seen in director Arun Matheswaran's 'Captain Miller'. He is presently awaiting the release of his upcoming directorial ventures, 'D 50' and 'Nilavukku En Mel Ennadi Kobam'. He also has director Sekhar Kammula's upcoming film in the pipeline.
